As golden leaves gently flutter down,
Denuded trees so bare without their gown,
Morning light is tardy with keen air,
Evening dusk sets earlier everywhere.
My thoughts flow for a timely verse,
Birthday greetings tho' perhaps too terse,
For one deserving the heart’s laudable praise,
I humbly pen these words for happy days.
Months and years to my beloved wife,
A woman and so much throughout my life,
Gentle and kind, unselfish and true,
It’s been so easy just loving you.
Whatever the years ahead may hold,
I’ll cherish still your heart of gold.
